Several experiments conducted to show step-wise impact of Noah land surface model (LSM) version and parameter updates to the off-line LIS-Noah LSM system with AGRMET forcings. Experiments are conducted from Jan. 1, 2006, to Dec. 31, 2011, with an hourly output timestep.
Analysis performed with the LIS Verification Toolkit (LVT)+.
Experiments:
-
Step 1: Baseline
- LIS-AGRMET experiment with Noah 2.7.1 version.
- Step 2: Model impact
- LIS-AGRMET experiment with Noah 3.3 version.
- Step 3a: Noah parameter impact
- LIS-AGRMET experiment with Noah 3.3 version.
- Improved FAO+STATSGO soil texture map. **
- Switch to monthly albedo files. **
- Step 3b: Landcover parameter impact
- LIS-AGRMET experiment with Noah 3.3 version.
- Improved FAO+STATSGO soil texture map.
- Switch to monthly albedo files.
- Switch to BU/NCEP MODIS-IGBP landcover map (20 types).**
** Note: Indicates change in experiment to previous experiments.
