LIS-AGRMET Experiment Description

Several experiments conducted to show step-wise impact of Noah land surface model (LSM) version and parameter updates to the off-line LIS-Noah LSM system with AGRMET forcings. Experiments are conducted from Jan. 1, 2006, to Dec. 31, 2011, with an hourly output timestep.

Analysis performed with the LIS Verification Toolkit (LVT)+.

Experiments:

  • Step 1: Baseline
    • LIS-AGRMET experiment with Noah 2.7.1 version.
  • Step 2: Model impact
    • LIS-AGRMET experiment with Noah 3.3 version.
  • Step 3a: Noah parameter impact
    • LIS-AGRMET experiment with Noah 3.3 version.
    • Improved FAO+STATSGO soil texture map. **
    • Switch to monthly albedo files. **
  • Step 3b: Landcover parameter impact
    • LIS-AGRMET experiment with Noah 3.3 version.
    • Improved FAO+STATSGO soil texture map.
    • Switch to monthly albedo files.
    • Switch to BU/NCEP MODIS-IGBP landcover map (20 types).**
